Welcome to Kandinsky - Y1!

 

Year One is a whole lot of fun,

We care for each other and everyone.

Making sure we try our best,

Means we sometimes need a rest!

So come and explore some things we do,

Science fun- exploring and investigating the weather, warm and cold.

 

We had a whole afternoon of science activities in the form of a carousel.

The children worked out what type of clouds were in the sky, they recorded the temperature on a thermometer in different places around school or watched it change from warm to cold (depending on the type of thermometer). They filled in a class block graph so we knew what type of weather was the class favourite and looked at a globe to see which countries were in the northern and southern hemisphere. They investigated ways to make ice melt quickly and used weather information books to find out new information. Also, they made some beautiful tissue paper pictures, sorting the warm colours from the cold colours and created some weather symbols of their own.

What a lot of fun we can have being scientists!
