Music

Our Specialist Music Teacher Mr James Connelly from 'PlayMusic' comes into school once a week to teach music to the children.  His enthusiasm and infectious love for music engages every child in a very special way.  Lessons focus on the enjoyment and exploration of music rather than 'perfect technique'. So far these amazing lessons have included:

 - Samba Drums

 - Rhythm and Rap

 - Ekulele

 - Rock Band

 - Choir

 - Melodicas

 - Djembe Drums

Mr Connelly also leads two 'Musical Assemblies' every Monday morning; one for KS1 and one for KS2... what better way to start the week than with a sing-song!

Each academic year Mr Connelly helps us host a 'Musical Extravaganza' at the local village hall, during which each class show off what they have learnt to parents and carers, followed by solos by some of our children.

Individual or Group Instrument Tuition

At Challock School, pupils have the opportunity to learn an array of musical instruments via our wonderful peripatetic teachers.

Currently we offer:

  • Drumming Lessons
  • Ekulele Lessons
  • Guitar Lessons
  • Keyboard Lessons
  • Piano Lessons
  • Violin Lessons

Sessions can be arranged in groups or individually, and are available throughout the school day.  For more information on prices and availability please contact the School Office.

The Class Project

We also run a 'Class Project' in Attenborough Class.  This enables each child to learn an instrument free of charge for the whole academic year.  Pupils are taught each week in class by Mr Connelly and take their instrument home after the first term to practice at home too.

Our current instrument is the ekulele and in previous years children have learnt the violin.

Challock & Young Voices at the London 02

Every year our Year 5 and 6 pupils are given the very exciting opportunity of signing at the 02 in London.  They join thousands of other school children in one amazing, mass choir to sing their hearts out!  The choir are joined by a professional backing band, professional singers and some famous faces...Tony Hadley is usually top billing, and has been joined by The Squires, Ruti and Beverley Knight.
