Netball report: Challock 4 – 3 Tenterden

Challock started off very strongly against Tenterden in a wet-weather opening game of the Ashford netball league, creating a number of chances themselves whilst keeping their opposition away from the ‘D’ through strong defence by Charlotte and Katie. Despite a number of shots, the first quarter ended 0-0. The second quarter started the same way, and after the players had rotated using the ‘High 5’ system, Challock then got onto the score sheet first via Zach’s goal, before Tenterden replied quickly to level the scores at 1-1. As half time approached, Challock managed one final attack and scored on the brink of the whistle to take a 2-1 lead into the second half. The weather conditions worsened, but both sides continued to play well, Challock maintaining their lead to go 3-1 up, then 4-2 up following Drew’s long shot, and further able defence from Elliott and Ben. Tenterden finished strongly, bringing the score to 4-3 in the dying seconds, but Challock held out, having time for one final attack before the whistle blew to end the match as 4-3 winners. This was an entertaining and well-spirited game in which both teams competed well. Challock were led really well by Leticia, who never stopped running in both attack and defence. Tenterden awarded the ‘Star award’ to Zach. Thanks also to Mrs Todd for the coaching and organising of the team - we look forward to the future matches!
