  • Matilda's Amazing Generosity

    Wed 21 Mar 2018

Matilda from Year 6 was very generous this week (and brave!)

She had her lovely long hair cut off to donate to the 'Little Princess Trust'.  You can see the before and after pictures below.  She donated 16 inches of hair!

This amazing charity make & supply real hair wigs free of charge for little girls & boys who loose their own hair through cancer treatment or other diseases.

What a fantastic thing to do we are really proud of her.  It looks like she is in good company as the Duchess of Cambridge donated her hair in January too!

  • New Security & Entry System

    Fri 16 Mar 2018

    Dear Parents and Carers,

As you know, the safety of all our children is of the highest importance to us. With this in mind we have installed a brand new access / entry system in our main entrance. This system will accurately log and monitor who is in the school building at all times; in accordance with fire regulations & our Safeguarding policy. This system will be applicable to all staff, governors, visitors and contractors.

We are taking this opportunity to remind all parents that they are not permitted within the school building without permission. We value the relationship we as a school have with our parents, and do not wish this to detract from that. However, we need to be able to demonstrate that we operate a safe and secure school.

If you feel you need to come into the school for any reason you must enter via the MAIN entrance and ask at the office. We wish to continue to welcome parents to be part of the school community and we appreciate that sometimes you may wish to ‘nip in’ but we do need to tighten up the security of our building.

This request is especially important for those parents who access the school via the Playground / Library door. Even if there is a staff member on duty at this door, please still walk through the playground and come to reception.

We really appreciate your anticipated support. The safety of our children is paramount.

    Yours sincerely

  • Snowdogs Discover Ashford - Fundraising Project with Pilgrims Hospice

    Mon 12 Mar 2018

    Dear Parent /Carers, Friday 9th March 2018

‘Snowdogs Discover Ashford’ is a magical arts trail taking place in Ashford throughout Autumn 2018. This large-scale, public art event is teaming up with The Pilgrims Hospice to raise funds for this amazing charity and to bring ‘the arts’ to everyone.

    1. are really excited to be a part of this project which will celebrate creativity and showcase our children’s artwork. School will be fundraising to raise a minimum of £575 to enable to us to design our very own Snowpup. A school-wide competition will be run to select our unique design. Decoration will be completed during the Summer term and then our Snowpup will be taken on a tour of Ashford with its bigger companions! Families can enjoy finding all the pups and Snowdogs hiding in and around Ashford. After its adventure, our pup will be returned permanently to the school in February 2019.

Pilgrims Hospice provide invaluable support for families who are coping with incurable illness, to live well in every moment. The majority of their funding comes from the general public and as a school we wish to support charities within our community. We are keen to provide our children with opportunities to develop their self-esteem and fundraising is a fantastic tool to do this. Working on this project will help to increase our children’s self-confidence and give them a real sense of achievement. By making a difference to their local community, we hope the children will also develop a sense of social responsibility.

The project will be provide schools with resources to enable a better understanding of supporting children who may have experienced loss in any form. Teaching is age appropriate and is linked to ‘The Snowman’ and ‘The Snowman and the Snowdog’.

    1. can’t wait to start fundraising and details of our first event will follow shortly. In the meantime if you wish to make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/challocksnowdogs2018. You can also take a sneak peek at what the rest of the Snowdogs are up to on social media.

Thank you for your support. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Yours faithfully

  • Issues with Water - Potential School Closures

    Mon 05 Mar 2018

    Monday 5th March 2018

    Dear Parents / Carers,

Many thanks for your patience and understanding last week. We hope you all managed to stay safe and warm.

I am sure those of you that live locally are aware that Southern Water are now experiencing an ‘unprecedented number of water supply issues’. This is due to ‘the thaw following last weeks’ cold weather’.

We have been monitoring our water supply throughout the day and unfortunately we are now starting to experience some difficulties with our water supply. At this point, we still have working toilets and taps to wash our hands. I would hope that Southern Water will be able to fix these issues and everything should be back in working order by tomorrow.

But – just in case….please do make sure that you send your children to school with drinking water tomorrow. If we do need to close the school, and we really hope we don’t, the same procedure as last week will apply. We will text everyone, add the closure to the school website www.challockprimaryschool.co.uk

and amend the Kent Closures website accordingly www.kentclosures.co.uk.

A huge thank-you for your understanding and continued support.

    Kind regards,

    Mrs Sweet

    Dear Parent/Carer,

We are very pleased to announce that Mrs Delia Cooper has been appointed as Headteacher of Chilham St Mary’s CE School. She will take up her post after the Easter Holiday. This means that Mrs Sweet will relinquish her role as Executive Headteacher of both schools at the same time; returning to her substantive role as Headteacher of Challock Primary School from that date.

We warmly welcome Mrs Cooper to our family of schools within the CARE Foundation Trust, where she will continue the close working relationship that has been established between Chilham St Mary’s and Challock.

    Kind regards,
