Computing
Our Computing Vision:
As Computing underpins today’s modern lifestyle, it is essential that all students gain the confidence and ability that they need in this subject to prepare them for the challenge of a rapidly developing and changing technological world.
Computing at Challock Primary School should provide a stimulating and enjoyable set of tools enabling good quality teaching and learning to take place. It should be a vehicle through which each curriculum area as well as administration are supported. It should allow all children to make excellent progress and enable teachers to teach more efficiently and effectively. It should also enable the increased participation of parents and carers’ in their children’s learning.
Our aims are:
- For Computing to be fully embedded into the curriculum so that it enhances learning
- For all children to become confident and competent users of Computing
- For children and staff to have access to a range of Computing resources including new emerging technologies
- For children to understand how to stay safe when using technology and to use technology appropriately
- For all staff to continually improve and develop their Computing skills and to take a shared responsibility for developing Computing and Online Safety
- To use Computing to promote links with parents and the wider community
The Teach Computing Curriculum:
We use the Teach Computing Curriculum (click here). This programme is built around an innovative progression framework where computing content has been organised into interconnected networks called learning graphs. The Teach Computing Curriculum has been created by subject experts, using the latest pedagogical research and teacher feedback.
Get a better understanding of progression through each key stage and year group by viewing and progressing through our Primary curriculum journey with the document below.
NB: This is an interactive document - by clicking on the different Year Groups or Units, viewers can access the Unit Guides and Learning Graphs to lern more about this curriculum.
