Healthy Living Topic - Wellbeing Week

Our third and final topic action point was to hold a wellbeing week in school. The children felt that after the first lockdown it was really important to focus on wellbeing issues for the whole school community. We had planned to hold this later in the year when we can all enjoy more outside activities. However, with another lockdown having been announced and schools closing again, our plans changed. We held a virtual well-being week in line with Children’s Mental Health week which took place 1st – 7th February. During this week the teachers worked to promote wellbeing both to the key worker children in school and to all those learning remotely at home. Teachers set a wellbeing task every day and ended the week with a screen free day.

Children were encouraged to promote the wellbeing of their teachers too! They were set a challenge to fill their windows with flowers as a way of saying #thankyouteachers, in line with charity, Useful and Kind’s campaign. It was a brilliant week for everyone and feedback from all the parents and children was really positive.  With the children returning to school on March the 8th the primary focus is on the wellbeing of the children and staff. Instead of one week purely focussed on wellbeing, it will continue to be an important focus of every week in school.
