Our Specialist Music Teacher Mr James Connolly comes into school once a week to teach music to the children.  His enthusiasm and infectious love for music engages every child in a very special way.  Lessons follow the 'Charanga' music scheme and focus on the enjoyment and exploration of music rather than 'perfect technique'. So far these amazing lessons have included:

 - Samba Drums

 - Rhythm and Rap

 - Ukulele

 - Rock Band

 - Choir

 - Melodicas

 - Djembe Drums

Mr Connolly also leads a 'Musical Assembly' every Monday morning for our whole school... what better way to start the week than with a sing-song! He also leads our school choir.

Each academic year Mr Connolly helps us host a 'Musical Extravaganza' at the local village hall, during which each class show off what they have learnt to parents and carers, followed by solos by some of our children.

Individual or Group Instrument Tuition

At Challock School, pupils have the opportunity to learn an array of musical instruments via our wonderful peripatetic teachers.

The Class Project

We also run a 'Class Project' in Attenborough Class.  This enables each child to learn an instrument free of charge for the whole academic year. Our Year 3s are currently learning how to play the ukulele.

We run different performances and productions throughout the year, a wonderful way to share our musical talents with our parents:

• Musical Extravaganza
• Summer Production, led by our Y6 and supported by our Key Stage 2 choir members - this have included recently Shrek, Matilda, The Lion King and Madagascar!

Challock & Young Voices at the London 02

Every year our Year 5 and 6 pupils are given the very exciting opportunity of signing at the 02 in London.  They join thousands of other school children in one amazing, mass choir to sing their hearts out!  The choir are joined by a professional backing band, professional singers and some famous faces...Tony Hadley is usually top billing, and has been joined by The Squires, Ruti and Beverley Knight.
