  • Netball report: Challock 9 - 5 Smeeth

Fri 13 May 2016 Mrs Pike
Well another great game of Netball this week from the Challock team. This match was the final in this group and decides our next grouping.

Smeeth won the toss.  We started well and won the first goal, shortly followed by a return goal by Smeeth.  We kept up the pace and finished the first quarter with Challock leading 4-2.  Well done Zach, some great shooting!  The second quarter was just as successful.  We defended well and intercepted most of Smeeths possibilities with Elliot and Leticia scoring another 4 goals, finishing the second quarter 8 -3.  Smeeth upped their game in the third quarter catching up with a further 2 goals, without scoring we maintained our lead.  The final quarter ended with just one goal being scored by Charlotte for Challock and the game finished with a score of 9-5!!  A great win, despite the rather unexpected chilly, windy weather.

Drew was voted by the umpires as this week's Star Player.

We now find out which pool we move into having won 3, drawn 1 and lost just 1 match in the group stages.

  • Netball report: Challock 6 - 12 Lady Joanna Thornhill

Fri 06 May 2016 Mrs Pike
Well what a very welcome warm sunny evening for today’s Netball match against Lady Joanna Thornhill School (Wye).  The pace of the whole game was extremely fast. In the first quarter, Challock scored 2 very strong goals, both in the second minute, closely followed by 1 from Wye, by the end of the first quarter the score was even at 3 goals each.  At end of the second quarter, Wye stepped ahead with a goal lead – the score being 5- 4.  In the third quarter Challock team tried hard but it would seem the heat was working against them (or maybe it was fatigue from playing against the Mums in enrichment previously this afternoon!).  Wye scored 4 goals, increasing their lead to 9 - 4.  In the fourth quarter, we pulled back 2 goals, but unfortunately luck was on Wye’s side and they scored 3 goals, with the final score Challock 6 – Wye 12.  Our very first concession, but that being said we have played just 4 games as a team, the Wye squad have been playing as a team for a whole year!

I have to apologise to readers, the game was so quick moving that I couldn’t keep up with who scored what goal but the goal scorers were; Zach, Leticia, Charlotte and Drew.

The Umpire's players of the match were Zach and Charlotte.

Fingers crossed for a fantastic result (and sunshine) at tomorrow’s tournament!
  • Netball report: Challock 4 - 4 Mersham

Sun 01 May 2016 Mrs Pike

This week were matched against our main competitor Mersham, with just a goal difference of 2 goals at the top of the table, both teams with 2 wins.

We started the first quarter well, with Mersham seizing an opportunity and scoring in the second minute, shortly followed by another in the fourth minute.  In the second quarter, Challock looked strong and held their own, and through excellent teamwork lined up Elliot for a fantastic 4 goals!  We defended brilliantly and the third quarter passed without either team scoring. Entering the further quarter with a 4-2 lead, our defence was strong, but Mersham's attack was also strong and we conceded a further 2 goals, making the final score our first draw at 4- 4. Overall, Challock still remain unbeaten!  Zach was the Umpire’s Star Player this week.
