Handball competition
Wed 05 Oct 2016Challock entered a Y6 team into the Ashford Schools' Handball tournament on Tuesday, 4th October, held at the Towers School. The team played incredibly well, especially since this is a sport the children are learning about without much prior experience. Our first two games ended in 4-0 victories against a St Mary's team and a Furley Park team. This meant we won our group and went into the main semi-finals! In a closely-fought match against Furley Park A team, we went 1-0 down before equalising after great team play. Furley Park, however, got another goal back and went on to win 2-1, before winning the overall event. We played Furley Park B in the 3rd place play off - this was a fantastic match, enjoyed by the players and spectators alike, which ended in a 4-4 draw! The team went into a 'golden goal' scenario, and Challock, despite not starting with the ball, managed to strike first to win 5-4 and thus win the bronze medals for the tournament.
This was a fantastic event - all the teams entered played well and in great spirits, and for the Challock team, it was an added bonus to come home with medals. Well done to the squad of Harry, Elliott, Ella, Libby, Zach, Drew, Ben, Dylan, Imogen and Puck

PTA End of Year News
Wed 20 Jul 2016The nature of the PTA membership of 2015/16 was brilliantly reflected in the support we received for our last event, the Sports Day Picnic.
People offered the time that they had and we all came together to create a really inclusive event.
The whole year has been in a similar vein. Our core membership has been varied. People have been flexible enough to offer their time when they have it and others have stepped up when we found ourselves with gaps. The true definition of a team.
THANK YOU:
Everybody that baked, contributed school uniform items, Christmas hamper items, chocolate, teddy bears….. the list goes on !!!!
Thank you to the PTA members:
Annabel Burden
Shona Hallam
Gina Homewood
Sarah Howard
Maria Lambkin
Anna Osborne

We held a Christmas Fair, we had a full house at our Pub Quiz, multiple school uniform sales and bake sales.
We organised and funded a circus experience day for the whole school and held a Treasure Hunt around the village. We finished the year with, quite literally, a scorching Sports Day Picnic.
The money we raised as a group and with lots and lots of parents help paid for most of the new school laptops - something that every child in the school will benefit from during their education.
We will hold our next PTA event/AGM, late September, 2016. You’re all welcome.
Thank You - and whether you formally support us by being member of the team or help at any of the events we organise, please keep on helping !
Warm Regards,
Graeme
