  • Chilham Appoint Headteacher

    Mon 05 Mar 2018

                                                                                                Monday 5th March 2018

    Dear Parent/Carer,

We are very pleased to announce that Mrs Delia Cooper has been appointed as Headteacher of Chilham St Mary’s CE School. She will take up her post after the Easter Holiday. This means that Mrs Sweet will relinquish her role as Executive Headteacher of both schools at the same time; returning to her substantive role as Headteacher of Challock Primary School from that date.

We warmly welcome Mrs Cooper to our family of schools within the CARE Foundation Trust, where she will continue the close working relationship that has been established between Chilham St Mary’s and Challock.

    Kind regards,

    Alan Norley

    Chair of Governors

  • Snow Photo Competition!

Thu 01 Mar 2018 Mr Lemon

    Snow School? Snow problem!

With all this snow, we bet you have some great photos and we’d love to see them! We are therefore running a photo competition. Photos will be displayed in school and also on the website (with your permission if your child is in the photo).

    • One picture per category per pupil please (3 photos in total).
    • Pupils should take the photos themselves, unless they are in the photo reading (in the snow or not)!

    You can either:

    • bring in your favourite photo in each category on Monday
    • e-mail to david.lemon@challock.kent.sch.uk (stating also if you're happy for them to go on the website if your child is in the photo)
    • Tweet this and include our handle @challockprimary

Please submit photos by end of Wednesday 7th March and then we will judge them! Prizes for the winners.

    There are 3 categories:

    • Most Scenic (best snow scene/landscape)
    • Funniest
    • Most Creative/Original involving reading

Stay warm and safe, and have fun!

  • Football Match Cancellation - vs Brabourne on Monday 5th March

Thu 01 Mar 2018 Mr Lemon

Our Y5/6 football matches vs Brabourne (away) on Monday 5th March have been cancelled due to the recent adverse weather conditions and prospective pitch conditions.

We will let players know if we can arrange an alternative fixture.

    Thank you.

  • School Closed - Thursday 1st March 2018

Wed 28 Feb 2018 Mr Lemon
Unfortunately, we have decided to remain closed on Thursday 1st March. We have snow drifts and treacherous road conditions surrounding Challock as of Wednesday evening. Our oil and catering supplies are low, as deliveries have not been possible. Stay safe and warm everyone!
  • School Closed - Tuesday 27th February 2018

Tue 27 Feb 2018 Mr Lemon
Due to the severe weather and the village roads being impassable/dangerous, school will be closed today - Tuesday 27th February. Apologies for any inconvenience.
  • BOOK WEEK 2018 (26th Feb - 2nd March)

    Wed 21 Feb 2018

BOOK WEEK & WORLD BOOK DAY

We are having a themed book week in school, the week of Monday 26th February. Our theme is ‘Book Animals’.

We are fortunate enough to have ‘Author Workshops’ for each class with our very own Kay Ghaye on the Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday 1st March is World Book Day and we will all be dressing up as animals from books as well as doing ‘paired reading’ throughout the school, older children reading with younger children.

We would like to invite parents to read their favourite children’s book to their child’s class at the end of the day on Monday 26th February, Tuesday 27th February and Wednesday 28th February at 2:45pm, a different parent each day. We will let you know if your name is drawn out.

If you would like to participate in this, please fill in the slip and we will put all the names in a hat to randomly select a parent for each of the days and classes. Please hand the slip into school by Wednesday 21st February.

Each child will also receive a ‘reading card’ for the week, to record how long they read for each day and where they read. A winner from KS1 and KS2 will be chosen on the Friday 2nd March for who has read for the longest length of time and there might also be a prize for the most interesting places they have read too!

We are really looking forward to the week and are sure it will be a success.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Miss Sercombe and Mrs Pape

  • 3D South America maps by Y6

Wed 20 Dec 2017 Mr Lemon
We loved having these brilliant 3D South America maps in our class this term, great work by our Y6 pupils for their optional holiday homework. These really brightened up our classroom, and showed what learning had taken place. Onwards to our Crime and Punishment unit next term!
